Lily's preschool is learning about building and towns and community helpers etc. this month. They had a project to pick a building in town and make a model of that building out of a box. It could be any size and did not really have any more instructions than that so.
......we thought, and thought, and thought.............
Lily wanted roads and streets and our house and on and on and on........we had been so busy we had not taken the time to start. Well the project is due at the end of this week, so this morning I talked to the other mothers and kind of got the idea what they were doing. Some like me at this point had not started, others had worked on it the day the note came home, some were in the middle of the project. The projects were of all size and scale. So I began to think how we could make it fun. Learning about a building and looking at a shoe box isn't much fun for a 5 year old and the small detail is a bit much for them to do the project.
SO after school, the answer came to me! It was in the form of a pallet with boxes from an order I placed. What perfect timing. Lily and I talked about it and we turned several big boxes into a shopping center like where our boutique is located. We made it so that the kids could crawl from one box to the other. What a fun way to learn about a building, but to explore it. We decided to skip on the small details, for this was Lily's project. So she painted all the boxes and I cut the holes. We will assemble the shopping center after we get them to school. I am already thinking that we might need to make two trips.
These are our boxes before the creation of Lily's shopping center. Here is Lily hard at work. I think that she must have painted for nearly two hours. I can't wait to take a picture at the preschool when all the boxes are together. They turned out really cute. I printed out logos and attached them to the top lids, they have flap doors and we even painted a shopping center sign.

BOXES !
SLEEPOVERS!
Last weekend both Emma and Win had friends over on Friday night. It was quite the adventure and I look forward to many more sleepovers, perhaps not at once next time. I brought everyone home from school and we had snacks and the kids played and we had pizza and then took everyone to the movies. The kids stayed up late and then I made them breakfast of alphabet pancakes the next morning before everyone went their separate ways. I guess you could say it was like a birthday party without the cake! The kids enjoyed the sleepover and I enjoyed the kids!

TO MARKET < TO MARKET TO BUY???
Here is my logo! I am excited about it. The W.E.L. represents the first letter in each one of my children's names.
I have no pictures just yet with this post. If you do not know already, I am opening a kid's boutique. Today was my first day to experience anything like market. It is very overwhelming with all of the choices. I am filling an entire store from scratch so that brings on an entire new challenge itself. Today, I looked at everything from embellished leg warmers to wee-blockers, rattles to bags, shirts to undies! You name it and I have looked at it and just to think more to come. I am so glad that I choose to attend this small caravan, so that I have some buying under my belt before Dallas Market. I will attend another day tomorrow, see some shoes next week and then to Dallas, towards the end of March. Saturday some things are getting cleared out of the space I have rented and so I am sure remodeling will begin soon. I will take some before and after photos. I have also started a blog for the boutique, but will do more of a business blog with pictures of what is coming and what is happening. This is just more of an update for my family and friends.
Hop 4 Help!
Last week or maybe even the week before, they held a fundraiser event......I HOP FOR HELP! The kids were to get donations for every lap that they hopped. This was the second year that the preschool did this activity. Lily's teacher is really creative and painted their class's faces with green paint like frogs. The kids were so excited. I am so glad that her school is teaching the value of giving to others.
Here is Lily's class with the exception of Andrew. He is one of her best friends. The preschool has two classes and Lily's class is the smallest. They are a great group of kids. Most of them have been together for three and some even four years now!
