Eight years ago today, Nick and I were married. It doesn't seem like we have been married that long at all even though we have been through mounds in those short eight years. It is strange how time passes and we just keep on moving. Well today, I decided to stop and remember that special day.
This is where we got married. I actually think this sign is funny. The Methodist Church...so simple, so plain, yet that is really all you need. It was in Old Washington, Arkansas. It is said to be the oldest Methodist Church west of the Mississippi......if I remember correctly. It was a beautiful old church with little air, some would say no air because it was hotter than hell that day, but it did have a little air! It had these old hardwood floors and the church lady was almost having a hissy fit because I had all these candles, not to mention the fact that I dropped one of them on the floor!
Here we are in the church. My pictures are not the clearest things, because I do not have a scanner, but took a picture of the picture with my camera! It was a simple ceremony with family. What would Nick say about it ............that he had to wait forever for me to come down the isle. I had someone sing Butterfly Kisses and NO ONE realized that it would be so long. Kind of funny now!
This is one of my all time favorite pictures!!!! I am sure that most people don't even take the "posed" candid photos of the groomsmen anymore, but this one is just too true to form. It is strange to see a photo capture my brother's personality, but this one did.......if only I had his speech from the reception written down. I have it on tape and must go back and write it down. These are the special moments of our special day that I remember and cherish the most!
And here we are dancing the evening away at the reception. I love to dance AND my one request of the reception was to have a live band. I love live music. Nick was so sweet and would not have it any other way than what his bride wanted so......we had the FM Band from Little Rock play. They were great and everyone had a blast.
So that is the run down of our special day, eight years ago. I look forward to many more and can't wait to year # 10. One of the things that I want to do is to get REMARRIED every 10 years. I know that it sounds silly, but why not! Nick proposed in the Florida Keys, so that is where I hope to be getting remarried in two more years!!! WISH ME LUCK!!
